Beauty tip: don’t put your hot curling iron on plastic

So yesterday, I was using my KQC Swirl, which spins while it curls (so you get waves not ringlets like you’re going to the prom unless you like feeling like you’re going to the prom and not the office in which case, you should use whatever skinny curling iron you like). Anyway, I was listening to the new Stars and distracted and anyway I have limited counter space so I put the iron down…

…and when i came back I realized there was a burning smell because I had put it right beside my favourite eyeshadow palette, the Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette in In the Nude…

And it melted the lid onto the palette and ruined the palette. So then I hosted a burial for the palette and had a moment of silence even though I was sobbing because seriously? It was too soon to say goodbye to this palette, which was only two weeks old. And also because I hadn’t felt so connected to a palette in ages. Like, seriously, look at those shades! Have you ever seen 10 more perfect shades together? It’s like the eyeshadow equivalent of the entire Eight is Enough family including Mom & Pop Bradford.

So once I was done having my pity party I told myself I needed to pull myself together and scrape the plastic which had melted all over the iron, but then I totally forgot and this morning it was like New Day! And I plugged in the iron and got to making waves and then remembered about the plastic. But only after I noticed all these black bits of plastic cauterized permanently into my hair. But it’s fine. It just sort of looks like highlights. And also, there is less plastic on my iron.

But really the moral of the story is clear. Make sure your bathroom has lots of counter space so you don’t lose your favourite eyeshadow palette and get plastic in your hair all in one week.
